Monitoring Temperature and Humidity on Beehives
Why does the humidity matter so much on a beehive and how do I control it? Temperature itself doesn't affect bees so much, since they can regulate their own temperature and the beehive's temperature. On the other hand, humidity in the beehive has several negative effects on the well-being of...

10-FRAME LANGSTROTH BEEHIVE - Beesource Beekeeping Forums
The species of wood used to make a beehive can vary depending upon what is available in your area. The minimum thickness should not be less than 3/4". If you are using standard dimensional lumber, you can use 1x8 (3/4" x 7-1/4") for both shallow and medium super, and 1x12 (3/4" x 11-1/4") for the deep hive body.

Cleaning old hives and frames - Beesource Beekeeping Forums
Complete newbie here. I picked up eight six hive boxes last week (see below) from a commercial beek who has gone out of business. I've heard the cautions against purchasing used equipment, but for me and my finances, it was either this or not do it at all. All of the boxes and frames are in...
