What Ukrainian athletes and leaders say about the IOC and Heraskevych
On Feb. 12, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) disqualified Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych just before the start of competition at the 25th Winter Olympic Games in 2026. The reason was a “memory helmet” featuring photos of Ukrainian athletes killed in the war with Russia.
Across the 13 contested boxing events at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Uzbekistan and China were the big winners. At the end of these Games, Uzbek boxers struck gold in five out of the seven men's categories contested. The biggest winner of all? Uzbekistan's super heavyweight (92+kg/202+) Bakhodir Jalolov. (We mean that in the most literal sense.)
